Brazilian Crude Steel Production Increased 2.4%

Business News Americas reported that Brazilian crude steel production increased 2.4% to 2.8 million tonnes in November, and slipped 1.4% to 32.1Mt in the first 11 months of the year

According to a statement released by the association IABr, output of rolled products amounted to 2.2 million tonnes last month, up 10.1% from the same period the year before, and to 24.3 million tonnes in January-November, a 4% increase from the previous year.

Domestic steel sales in November reached 1.8 million tonnes, up 2.5% from the previous year, and 20 million tonnes in the first eleven months, up 0.9%.

Steel exports in November amounted to 789,000 tonnes, worth USD 502 million. However, from January-November exports were 9 million tonnes, worth USD 6.5 billion, down 9.6% in volume and 15.5% in value.

Brazil registered 279,000 tonnes of steel imports, worth USD 349 million in November. Imports reached 3.5 million tonnes in January-November, up 2.7% from the previous year.

Apparent domestic steel consumption reached 23.4 million tonnes in the first eleven months, representing an increase of 1%.
