According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in November 2012 Turkey's coking coal imports increased by 17.2 percent month on month following the month-on-month rise of 31.7 percent recorded in October 2012. Turkey's coking coal imports in November last year were up 53.8 percent compared to November 2011, totaling 3.2 million metric tons. In November, the country's coking coal imports reached the highest level recorded year-to-date in 2012.

Turkey's coking coal imports from Russia in November last year amounted to 1.2 million metric tons, rising by 42.8 percent month on month and hitting a significantly high year-to-date peak level, while imports from Colombia in November amounted to 783,355 mt, down slightly compared to the previous month.

In the first 11 months of 2012, Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 25.3 million metric tons, increasing 22.8 percent compared to January-November 2011.
